The speaker is Dr. Massimiliano Alvioli*, Research Institute for Geo-Hydrological Protection (Istituto di Ricerca per la Protezione Idrogeologica – IRPI. 6. Title: Landslide susceptibility: examples of methods and applications in Italy
7. Abstract: Landslide susceptibility zonation is an important task in Italy, where almost 80% of the territory is
   potentially prone to landslides, both rainfall- and earthquake-induced. Applicability of different methods for
   susceptibility zonation depends on available data and the purpose of the map. Susceptibility zonation with
   statistical and/or machine learning methods helps prioritizing prevention measures at regional scale, and
   physically based methods may be applicable from local to regional scale. Example applications of both
   methods in Italy will be presented, discussing similarities and differences of the results.
8. CPD (Continuing Professional Development in Japan): This online Web lecture is in the framework of the
   forest sector CPD (in preparation), and the details will be posted on the JAFEE (Center for Joint
   Advancement of Forest and Natural Environment Technology by Education and Research)’s Website.

   (3) On the “Payment result” screen, a message will appear stating “Please transfer the participation fee by
     the application deadline”, but ignore it and close the screen.
   (4) When you receive an email stating “2024 Lecture by oversea researcher (Online participation)0JPY”,
     your application is complete.

 10.2 Non-members can choose to pay the participation fee by bank transfer or credit card via PayPal.
