Explanation The heavy rain brought by typhoon 12 which made landfall in Shikoku Island in September 2011 caused a large sediment disaster centered on Kii Peninsula. The photograph is an aerial photograph which captured three landslides which occurred around Tenkawa, Tsubonouchi district of Nara Prefecture with one piece. A part of the moving clod arrived at the school on the opposite shore by the landslide on the right of the photo, and one faculty member who lived in the faculty housing in the premises died. Since the landslide moving objects in the center of the photo blocked the river, the water level rose and flooded damage occurred in a part of Tsubonouchi district.
